The West Bengal State Election Commission does not deal with General Elections to the Lok Sabha (Parliament). Such Elections are conducted by the Election Commission of India. Thus, any complaint, suggestion or any other communication regarding the same may be addressed either to the Election Commission of India or the Chief Electoral Officer, West Bengal.

The Constitution of India has vested in the State Election Commission of the respective State the superintendence, direction and control of the entire process for conduct of elections to the Panchayats and Municipal Bodies. This State has a tradition of holding elections to the Local Bodies regularly in accordance with the provisions of the respective State Acts and Rules made thereunder.There are, at present, 825 Zilla Parishad constituencis spread over 20 Zilla Parishads and 1 Mahakuma Parishad, 9240 Panchayat Samiti constituencis in 341 Panchayat Samitis and 48751 Gram Panchayat Constituencies in 3354 Gram Panchayats. There are 7 Municipal Corporations and 119 Municipalities in West Bengal
